Episode Text
Hello hello Casual Simplicity listener! Hope you’re enjoying your October. We’re in the spooky Halloween season where we live in Wisconsin in the U.S. While I record this, I’m still pregnant…but very very pregnant at 38 weeks and some days. So I am enjoying the weather cooling down here and so are my swollen sausage toes and fingers.
This month and next month we are mixing baby related episodes, since we’re having our 4th little one AND holiday related episodes.
Today, we’re talking baby stuff–all about hospital bags. If you’re done having babies, this episode is definitely not for you. But if you’re still having a baby or two (or three or more) in the future, I’m sharing what I packed in my minimal-ish hospital bag as a 4th time mom.
And I’ll share how you can access our bonus content of me going through some of the spaces we have prepared and set up for the baby's arrival.
Pack Your Minimal-ish Hospital Bag
This episode is really just me telling you exactly what I packed. Pretty much, I’m going to list items and explain a few. For this episode, I made a pretty printable that’s free for everyone, not just our paid supporters this time. So anyone and everyone can get the hospital bag checklist of items right here! ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️
For paid supporters, I have an additional bonus podcast audio on my Substack for you where we chat about a few “spaces” I have prepared for the baby's arrival. We’ll go through a brief rundown of our relatively simple preparation we did in our room, the baby room, my purse / diaper bag, our car, and our home’s living space. If you still want this content but don’t want the commitment of a monthly or yearly subscription or just don’t want to have to think about canceling, this additional audio will be available for purchase solo in the store as well. I’ll link in the show notes. I’ll also link to where you can become a paid supporter if you want to go that route.

**Additional Notes:
Make sure dad packs a small bag too.
I used to pack a small gift for the nurses, but now we just get everyone bagels or something to eat the next day.
Does your hospital have any forms you can fill out ahead of time?
Charged bluetooth speaker or other labor comforts
Car prep bag:
Car seat cleaned and ready to go
Plastic bags or a pee pad & two towels
Bulb syringe or NoseFrida
That’s it! That’s what I have in my hospital bag. Of course if you have a planned cesarean, you’ll maybe want some additional clothing or just roll with your robe. I figure if I ever had to stay an extra day or two, I’d just use my robe or rewear something or send my husband home for more clothes at that point.
You can find the additional audio podcast about the spaces we have set up for the baby below, under the paid supporter paywall on this Substack post OR I have it available for purchase independently on my website’s shop.
What’s next?
We’re mixing baby and holiday during the months of October and November so our next episode will be holiday related. I’ll be sharing all the things I put into my holiday planning google doc. This thing is my lifesaver during the crazy season. I can keep track of everything here. It’s everything I need and nothing more. It’s perfect. You should definitely take a listen.
Talk next time.
